RFP- Sustainable Abortion Ecosystem(SAE) Report Writing Consultancy

Introduction

Ipas is a nonprofit organization that works with local, national, regional, and global partners to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights, with a focus on ensuring that high-quality safe abortion and contraceptive information and services are available, accessible, and acceptable to women and girls. Ipas Africa Southern Region recognizes that tackling unintended pregnancy among women and girls requires holistic and broad-based approaches that build their empowerment, help them make decisions about their lives, including matters of sexual and reproductive health, engage the support of men and boys in their lives, and offer them real opportunities so that motherhood is not seen as their only destiny. A key factor contributing to the sexual and reproductive health risks girls and women face is the lack of access to comprehensive sexuality education and accessible, affordable, and appropriate contraception and safe abortion services.

Purpose of the Consultancy
To support efforts towards planning for sustainability of the provision of safe abortion, and contraceptive services. Ipas is conducting a Sustainable Abortion Ecosystem Assessment workshop in East London, Eastern Cape Province in collaboration with the Provincial Department of Health PDoH) and community stakeholders. The Ecosystem Assessment is intended to assess and understand the environment in which people make abortion decisions. This dynamic process is meant to create an enabling environment, ensure active accountability and commitment among all stakeholders, and provides opportunities to respond to dynamic shifts in the abortion ecosystem.
