Ipas Malawi works effectively to strengthen SRH service delivery through strong working relationships with the Ministry of Health (MOH) Reproductive health directorate and local government. Over the years, Ipas has been supporting the MOH to finalize Post abortion Care National standards Guidelines which were approved in December 2020 and incorporation of CAC indicators into the DHIS 2. This was an important milestone towards making SRH services available for women and girls in Malawi.
Ipas Malawi, in partnership with the Iceland Government through the Embassy of Iceland Malawi, and Nkhotakota District Council through Nkhotakota District Health Office, will be implementing a 30-month project titled ‘Beyond Boundaries: Ensuring Access to Quality Sexual and Reductive Health Rights’. The project will support the provision of CAC services across the 21 health facilities in NKK. Our rigorous intervention model includes Values Clarification and Action for Transformation Training (VCAT) for all clinical staff, clinical provider training on comprehensive abortion care, and follow-up mentorship model. Ipas will also collaborate on strategic district and national-level advocacy and partner closely with civil society and community groups to build a vibrant, grassroots movement for trained Youth Champions on law reform and other SRHR policies.
Another important element of the project is to incorporate SRH services in climate crisis initiatives to address the injustices and limited access to SRHR services that women and girls face during climate crises. Ipas recognizes the impact that the climate crisis in Malawi and the broader Southern African Development Community (SADC) region has on reproductive freedom, gender equity, and the resiliency of health systems and communities. Therefore, the project will prioritize harmonizing climate, gender, and SRHR laws, policies, and programs to respond to evidence, learning, and expressed needs of health systems and communities including Child marriges, Teen pregnancies and school dropouts nterventions through a strategy of CTS Nexus.
Ipas Malawi is seeking a qualified and experienced Consultant/Organization to conduct a baseline evaluation for the ‘Beyond Boundaries: Ensuring Access to Quality Sexual and Reproductive health and Rights’. The purpose of this evaluation is to assess the status quo of project indicators before implementation.
